Ultrasound Services

Ultrasound imaging is a diagnostic procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the internal structures of your body. It is used in the diagnosis & treatment of different conditions & to monitor the development of an unborn child during pregnancy. Diagnostic ultrasound is available through the home health service for the elderly, bedbound, & those who wish to perform the test at home for various reasons.

It uses a portable ultrasound machine that can easily be transported. The sound waves used are produced by a device called a transducer. As they pass through your body they produce echoes, which are captured to create real-time images that can be observed on a computer screen & interpreted by your doctor. The procedure is painless & has no risks.

At Bergen County Gynecology, we provide this resource for our patients who need it. The scan is provided by a certified sono-technician, & results are available in one day. Please inquire about our ultrasound resources during your visit if you are interested in utilizing this service. If you are coming in for a sonogram, remember the best time to plan this scan is immediately after your period is completed. Please do not plan the ultrasound when you are actively bleeding or immediately prior to the period. Drink a few glasses of water, & come with a full bladder. Sometimes this will help obtain better images.
